Tulum is the Mayan word for wall. That’s what it is called
now but in its day it was called zama which means dawn. We saw temples that had
carvings and some small entrances. When we entered the city the passageway
through the wall was very thick. They liked to do a lot of rituals on a temple
and in the courtyards.
Tulum was one of the
first cities that the Spaniards saw. After the Spanish came the Mayans left.
